Why does lum love ataru

Whenever he sees or hears a pretty girl he immediately asks for their address and telephone number, but never succeeds. Ataru constantly tries to ignore Lum but it is proven many times that Ataru cares about her, probably only hating her electric shock. Ataru's outfits vary depending on the situation or weather. He is usually seen wearing his school uniform; however, during holidays he is often dressed in the appropriate attire, even at times kimonos or robes, and in the winter when not at school he commonly wears scarves or jackets.

At home, like most Japanese, he never wears shoes; otherwise at home his clothes are best described as slovenly or sub-casual -- things he changes out of when he leaves the house. This is particularly true during the summer months, as notable in Beautiful Dreamer. He's also shown as pretty buff in the anime. He has "cartoony" superhuman abilities. Being able to do incredible things just because the author wants him to do.

He can catch a blade with his bare hands and can defeat a judo trainer with a single throw. He also has shown to have very good stamina as well as running speed when he chased Asuka. He is one of the special students that need to be chained with an iron ball in order to make it a fair competition in a school event. Ataru met Lum when he was randomly selected by a computer to represent mankind in a game of tag with the fate of the Earth on the line Lum herself represented the Oni race.

When it looked like Ataru would fail, Shinobu Miyake his girlfriend at the time promised to marry him if he won. Determined to do "the stuff that married people do", he succeeded in catching Lum and then loudly declared "Now I can get married!!

In the beginning he is cold-hearted towards her and saw her as a nuisance preventing him from girl hunting, but by the time of the story "A Night Alone!! This is just one of many instances when Ataru does everything he can to protect Lum from physical harm. His life is a crazy mess, accidents, and aliens but even with all the bad stuff fate throws at him he smiles and he tries his best to enjoy his life with his own way while he matures.

Listen I need to put this point because I have seen people say that and I have to put it clear: the series Anime version made Ataru look like an idiot for most of the series, there was only one episode when he looked like his manga self. The movie called the final chapter and the ovas are the exceptions because they changed the director, thank god. But in the manga? Throughout the chapters of the manga and anime, Megane and the Stormtroopers have done absolutely nothing but letting Ataru suffer whether it involves a Yokai, Goblin or folklore creatures, they do nothing but just stand there watch Ataru getting friendzoned or getting possessed, one way shape or form.

Even in the finale, they were completely useless in helping or advicing Ataru because the whole time they were just breaking down, and crying about Lum erasing everyone's memories if Ataru didn't say "I Love You" to Lum and that makes her more selfish and this also proves Ataru was right the whole time.

And when I take a critical look at Megane and his friends, I don't really see them as Ataru's true friends, but I only see them as selfish pricks who just wants to win Lum's attention. Ever since Lum started living with Ataru, she forced her way into his life like invading his privacy, touching his belongings without his permission, disturbing Ataru whether he's reading manga or doing something else in his room he gets interrupted one way or another.

Also from Lum, she read Ataru's diary and it caused him multiple incidents and it further pissed Ataru off and on top of that, Lum made a voodoo doll of Ataru behind his back and this just clearly shows you that Lum is nothing but a disrespectful spoiled brat.

And for the record, she doesn't do anything other than live in Ataru's room and annoy him, that's it. When a year passed by, Lum still hasn't learned anything ever since living with Ataru.

She also blackmailed him into dating her by saying she won't help him with this homework; and to be clear it is never shown whether Lum helped him or not but we can all assume, Ataru doesn't really need Lum's help in doing his assignments. And then, Lum officially enrolled at Tomobiki High School just to be with Ataru, despite his objections. But Rumiko Takahashi made it very clear that Ataru is the main protagonist of the show and seeing him get dominated by Lum, Ten, Sakura, Cherry, Mendou, Megane and the Stormtroopers, this just really pisses me off further because I hate watching or reading where the main protagonist gets friendzoned, getting pushed one way shape or form or even seeing him suffer.

But obviously, Urusei Yatsura is suppose to be comedy but by the time you get to the final arc of the manga, the tone was being serious where Lum once again forces Ataru to play the game of tag once more as Earth hangs in the balance of being infested with giant mushrooms. Also, let's just say that if Ataru really needs to be alone like he doesn't chase women or ask for their address or phone number.

Let's just say he need to go somewhere like going to the mountains or to a temple far away; something like that and then Lum will just keep on following him in the hopes of annoying him more and that would only make Ataru hate Lum even further despite the fact she refuses to listen. Another example, if Ataru secretly leaves his parents and Lum and Ten would Lum still follow him? Yes she will but this time it will be different but Lum will fail this time because Ataru leaves in the middle of the night and what if he goes to China?

Or any other Asian Countries? Yes he would, even if it would cost him a lot of money just to go there, Lum can't enter those countries especially in China not without pissing off the Chinese Government.

Even though he is suppose to be a running gag of the series, all of the characters do no respect Ataru simply because of his womanizing and perverted ways and girl chasing, he is still the victim of the series whether they chose to realize it or not.

For instance, Megane and the Stormtroopers mostly abuse Ataru by trying to have him "Tortured" on a certain basis if Ataru attempts to break up with Lum. Then we have Shinobu who continues to misunderstand Ataru even after Lum continue to frame him in a comedic style, Shinobu does hurt Ataru mostly by slamming a table on him as shown in a flashback in Episode 5 this continued during the first half of the arc in the manga.

However, when Shinobu moved on, but Megane and his gang haven't as they continued to annoy Ataru on a daily basis with the exception of the final arc of the manga, "Boy Meets Girl". But still even after the manga ended, the characters still continue to treat him like crap despite the aftermath of the mushrooms being eaten. But whole point is, is that Megane and his gang are easily the most annoying ones way before Mendou entered the fray.

It's because they can't mind their own business, they judge him on a daily basis, and this is where things turn way out of control because Megane is in fact a socialist SIMP and he really needs help. Mendou is just a spoiled brat who just goes out of his way to try and slice Ataru with his Katana on a daily basis and for the most part is Cherry who pops out of nowhere all for the sake of asking free food, he shows up at Ataru's house and annoys Ataru's mother to only give him free meal just because he's a "Monk".
