When is new maps for mw3
Back when Modern Warfare 3 was the latest game in the series, Activision introduced a paid subscription service called Call of Duty Elite , where DLC maps were released individually on a monthly basis with traditional map packs coming later. Some might say the now-defunct service was ahead of its time. Designed as MW3 's take on the popular Highrise map, Overwatch was released as part of the second DLC drop for the game and is set atop a highrise apartment building in Lower Manhattan, New York, during sunset.
We don't know what's coming beyond Season 3 of Modern Warfare ,but Overwatch would be a good addition to the roadmap. Every Call of Duty game always releases with at least one small, close-quarters map that generally ends up being iconic to either the series or at least that game.
And while it's unlikely Infinity Ward would ever add the famous Treyarch map, Nuketown, it has slowly added all of its own iconic maps including Modern Warfare Remastered 's Shipment and Modern Warfare 2 's Rust. That leaves only Modern Warfare 3 to complete the trilogy and round out the reboot.
Although not nearly on the same level as Call of Duty: Ghosts , one common complaint about the multiplayer mode for Modern Warfar e is how big a lot of the maps are, which is why there's a common trend with the maps in this list being small to medium-sized maps. With Warzone and Ground War available, Modern Warfare needs to focus on 6v6 and 2v2 Gunfight if it wants to cater to the needs of all players. Arkaden is one of those maps that was beloved during the MW3 days and deserves another shot in the limelight, plus it would help solve the ongoing issue of Modern Warfare maps being too large.
Underground was the first multiplayer map ever shown for Modern Warfare 3 , being featured prominently in the original reveal trailer. Despite the single-player campaign exploring the Westminster underground train station and the fact that the multiplayer map is named after the famous tube system, Underground never actually goes underground. Instead, the fight takes place on the streets in London, fit with gloomy grey skies, tight corridors, and a solid design for addition to Modern Warfare.
Set in the streets of an abandoned apartment complex near the town of Pripyat, Ukraine, Fallen's setting is based on the fallout of the infamous Chernobyl disaster which also served as inspiration for the fan-favorite single-player mission, All Ghillied Up from Modern Warfare Remastered. Fallen perfectly captures the ghost-town atmosphere of Pripyat, and provides players with a perfect mixture of close-quarters and long-range combat that makes it perfect for all modes from Free For All to Domination and Search and Destroy.
Bootleg seems one of the less commonly played maps in MW3 which doesn't come up in rotation all that often. While its actual set-up is rather good for mid-range gunfights, the map is let down by the rainy night in which the map is set, which interferes with visibility in certain places. A little like Downturn, Interchange is set around a lot of destruction. This makes the actual landscape itself very repetitive.
With Interchange, however, we are treated to a unique map with very limited cover. In fact, most of the middle areas in the map are completely open, making a dash across very risky.
Set in a compound near Pripyat, this Ukrainian map is a great choice for players who prefer outdoor areas. The dense cover on either side of the map allows for stealth, but the middle area can be a bloodbath if you pick your moment. Set in Paris, Resistance is another interestingly varied map.
It is set almost exclusively outside, meaning either side of the map can make for a great sniping vantage point. This seems like it would make close-quarters combat difficult, but there are so many points of cover that you can move up the map quite slowly and effectively if necessary.
One spawn is set at the top of a hill, while the other is at the lowest point on the map, with long lines of sight meaning snipers can basically see the entire length of the map from multiple vantage points. Various buildings throw in some close-quarters variety. Either end is set around a completely open area surrounded by cover, while the middle is covered with glass that air support can easily shatter.
Arkaden looks like the MW3 attempt to create another map as iconic as Terminal. It obviously pales in comparison, but there are still many things to praise about Arkaden. The outdoor area balances the indoor combat nicely, while differences in elevation keep things interesting. The small Hardhat map recently made its way into season three of Modern Warfare thanks to the positive response from most players.
